New QLD Forms | May 2025

The Queensland Government has implemented significant reforms to rental laws under the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024. These changes, rolled out in phases, aim to enhance fairness, transparency, and safety in the rental sector.

• Multiple Submission Methods: Applicants must be provided with at least two methods to submit applications, one of which must not be restrictive (e.g., not requiring payment or third-party platforms).​Residential Tenancies Authority+1Residential Tenancies Authority+1

• Limitations on Information Requests: Only specific information can be requested during the application process, focusing on the applicant's suitability to rent the property.​Residential Tenancies Authority

• Fixtures and Structural Changes: Tenants wishing to make modifications must submit a Request for Approval to Attach Fixtures or Make Structural Changes (Form 23).
